“From whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.” Ephesians 4:16 NKJV

Right after we moved into our new building, we immediately started Monday morning prayer. 6:00 am is early to expect anyone to gather, but I was determined that if I were the only one, this house would be a house of prayer. To my surprise there were 22 people that first Monday morning. I walked through every room, prayed for every chair, and touched every wall praying for a move of God. Monday morning prayer has become one of my favorite things at Dwell.

On one Monday, I was walking around the perimeter of the sanctuary touching and praying for the sound panels that are hanging on the walls. I remember thinking, “If these walls could speak, what would they say?” Do they absorb the sounds and contain the residue of Sunday worship services? How many times has the name of Jesus penetrated these walls? What testimony would they share about the people in this room?

But it’s just drywall. Fabric stapled to small pieces of wood. Inanimate structure.

Then I thought about the living stones that make up the real House of the Lord. We are many members, fitly joined together by what every joint supplies. The people of Dwell Church are building blocks that become walls and doors that become a dwelling place for the presence of God. We are walls that have voices that exist to declare the goodness of God. We are walls that speak His praise with every breath we take.

Prayer: Lord, may the residue of our Sunday worship experiences penetrate our whole beings. May every word of petition at each Monday morning prayer meeting and every Wednesday night prayer service make lasting impact on those in our realm of influence. May the walls that make up this house forever declare the name of Jesus. Amen!
